Bordeaux sounds a bit like border, like crossing borders. This November’s Festival Les grandes Traversées in Bordeaux is dedicated to you. Will you cross any borders? Surely I will be crossing some personal borders for myself, and then it will depend on each and every one from the audience and the artists and the performers if it accomplishes the same for them. You know, it’s wonderful when it happens, but crossing borders is not the most important thing for me at all.
Les grandes Traversées invited Sasha Waltz in 2003, Constanza Macras in 2006 and today it’s you. Do you feel, all of you ladies have something in common? Well, we are all women, we like to work, and we are passionate about creating dance – we do have that in common. I haven’t seen enough of their work to be able to say more about style or content. I was once invited to dance at an improvisation performance at Les grandes Traversées, which I enjoyed a lot, and then my collegue Margrét Sara Gudjónsdóttir, from “The Mysteries of Love,” also worked with Constanza Macras.
