Virgilio Sieni
The florentin choreographer Virgilio Sieni, outstanding personality in italian contemporary dance field, deserves a special mention because of his courage and dedication to dance and live arts. He runs in Florence, in the building of Teatro Goldoni, a kind and open space called Cango, where he invites multiartistic performances. In a country where, traditionally, every artist fights alone for fundrising and visibility, Virgilio Sieni does not fear to call his collegues to perform in Cango, e. g. Motus, Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio, Kinkaleri, Company Blu, Aldes/Roberto Castello.
An international overlook is guaranteed, for exemple, with Jonathan Burrows and Matteo Fargion, Steve Paxton and Lisa Nelson. Cango gives hospitality to resident artists, like Sioned Huws for the project “Passion No Patience,” work in progress on dance, new technologies and music organized in collaboration with FabbricaEuropa Festival, Zineb Sedira, visual artist from Algeria based in London, for a workshop, Branco Brezovec from Croatia for a theatrical laboratory.
