Un Yamada: «One-Piece»
Un Yamada is a charming, witty dancer/choreographer who emerged from the solo x duo competition at the Yokohama Dance Collection in 2000, where she was awarded the Young Choreographer’s Prize. Critically acclaimed for her sophisticated solo works, she has now established her own company and is actively involved in creating group pieces as well. Her intelligent, playful choreographies, often working closely together with the music, make innovative use of music theory and techniques.
In the captivating solo A Mosquito she wears sensors on her body that make sounds along with her movements by causing a howling effect on a microphone. Haikaburi (Cinderella) is a group piece that shows her exceptional talent for composition and focuses on the axis of time. The time of this piece is conceptually rewound as everything on the stage, including the music, narration and dance movements.
