“This is the best view in Stockholm”, says Anders Hellström, when welcoming me into his office on the top floor of the Royal Swedish Opera House. I am bound to agree. If it had not been for the construction workers outside the window, on the roof of the Opera, that interferes a bit with the beautiful sight over the glimmering water and towards the Royal Palace in the center of the capital.
When we meet in September, Anders Hellström has had his new job as artistic director of the Royal Swedish Ballet for just five weeks. His contract lasts for five years, but Anders Hellström will only be able to enjoy this enviable view for about a year. Next December the opera house will close for a much needed renovation, so all the staff and the entire production will move out to temporary locations. ...
