Ligia Lewis is a style-defining contemporary choreographer, award-winning for pieces such as A Plot/A Scandal, Minor Matter, and Sorrow Swag. The fact that her most recent work, Some Thing Folk, with Cullberg, last summer at Berlin’s Tanz im August festival, was not met with unanimous enthusiasm is part of the artistic process which always involves failure. Lewis is not yet quite as well known as a visual artist, although she has been working in this field for years. But that can change: Until 18 January, Berlin's Gropius Bau is showing her solo exhibition I'm Not Here Forrrrr..., including her new work Wayward Chant which was conceived specifically for the building's courtyard and whose constant transformation culminates in two full-length performances on 28 and 29 November.
