Julian Rosefeldt

Nothing is Original isn't exactly an inviting exhibition title.

The name of Julian Rosefeldt's retrospective, which is on view at C/O Berlin's Amerika-Haus until 16 September, should, however, be read ambiguously, not as a rejection of originality, but as a questioning of the concept of artistic uniqueness: It quotes Jim Jarmush, who, in "The Golden Rules of Filmmaking", essentially declared that it's not about who the artist steals from, but what he does with it.

The exhibition brings together Rosefeldt's well-known film and video installations, as well as previously unpublished storyboards, sketches, photographs, and making-of documents.
