Plauen's charming Vogtland Theatre, inaugurated in 1898, with its columned portico, and the surging emotions of today are not a contradiction: feelings exist at all times, only their choreographic expression differs. Since 2022, this expression has been the responsibility of Sergei Vanaev, a native of Moscow who, after a fulfilling career as a dancer and 17 years as ballet director in Bremerhaven, was drawn to the Vogtland region. With a double bill, which is now moving on to Zwickau, he brought the premiere audience of the city of 65,000 inhabitants to a standing ovation.
