Filipe Portugal choreographs Carmen at Klosterkirche Königsfelden, with prima ballerina Giulia Tonelli in the lead role

New job, new challenge, new art — it's time to tell stories. When Filipe Portugal took over the Aargau cultural institution Tanz und Kunst Königsfelden from Brigitta Luisa Merki a year ago, it was clear to him that he wanted to dance in new directions. Until then, the long-time principal dancer at the Ballett Zürich had created choreographies born entirely from music. Now he wanted to start telling stories. With his master's degree in choreography from Zürcher Hochschule der Künste (ZHdK), he entered the world of concepts and conceptual thinking.
