Aging has long been a topic in dance: the question of how the art can continue, even beyond the age of 40, is being emphatically raised, not only in contemporary dance but also in classical ballet. London's Sadler's Wells has long been focused on this area, and in 2014 the small Elixir Festival was founded. Under the motto "Rethinking perceptions around dance and age," the current edition includes performances such as a mixed bill by the Company of Elders, Louise Lecavalier's danses vagabondes, and Kontakthof – Echoes of '78, Meryl Tankard's successful re-examination of Pina Bausch.
