Almost exactly one year ago, Sasha Waltz mounted a choreography at the Salzburg Felsenreitschule — a sacred work with a contemporary perspective. The dancers of Sasha Waltz & Guests transformed Johann Sebastian Bach's Johannes-Passion, musically performed by Cappella Mediterranea and Chambre de Namur, into a complex and soulful physical drama. Against the massive stone arcades, the story of Christ's Passion unfolded as a message of hope, of growth and decay, which enshrines every human life. Arte recorded the production and will show it in its media library starting 20 April, and also on television on 28 April at 12:25 a.m.
