For a milestone birthday, you can really let loose. The Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT) has been to the candy shop and presents Wildsong: a delicious treat for the Holland Dance Festival whose twentieth edition opened in February with the world premiere of Kid in a Candy Shop by Jan Martens and Horses, created in 2024 by the new Associate Choreographer, Marcos Morau. In this candy shop, things must have been disciplined and orderly, for we see dances of exquisite beauty— and incredibly elaborate technique. Holding an intricate arabesque for several minutes, letting muscles play individually, walking and running in strict structures—is this Cunningham? Are the Rosas of yesteryear running here? Were the twitching individual muscles cooked so vividly in Forsythe's kitchen?
