“Chroniques” sounds neutral, objective, factual—and is precisely for that reason an illusion. In the realm of Peeping Tom, visual and choreographic tricks persistently deceive the senses and elude any realism. Peeping Tom consists of the Argentinian Gabriela Carrizo and the Frenchman Franck Chartier, who first met in Alain Platel’s Brussels company. For some time now, they have pursued separate artistic paths: Chartier continues to love the theater and large stage sets, while Carrizo plays more freely with spaces and dimensions. So it is rather Chartier who is the chronicler, which is why the title of Carrizo's new work seems like a feint, similarly self-ironic as the name of the company: Peeping Tom refers to voyeurism in relation to the everyday life of the general population.
