Festivals Purple and Tanztage

Dance for young audiences is still treated like a stepchild by institutions and the press. Yet children and teenagers, even infants, are actually grateful partners for body, rhythm, and spatial experiences. The Purple festival aims to remedy this and is entering its tenth year featuring, among other things, new pieces by Anne Nguyen at HAU, Thomas Noone at Theater an der Parkaue, and Isabelle Schad at Theater o.N.

The Tanztage Berlin festival has existed even longer, since 1996, to be precise: a well-deserved festival for emerging artists at Sophiensæle, directed by Mateusz Szymanówka since 2020. In this anniversary year, the organizers say they will celebrate "our generous audiences and the many brilliant artists from all over the city," including Colleen Ndemeh Fitzgerald, Lo Höckner, and Dominique Tegho.
