From Stuttgart and Basel to Vienna, Düsseldorf/Duisburg and Gauthier Dance: the companies, artists and productions that brought extra brilliance to the season
A trend that has continued for years: The outstanding individual achievement that could be awarded a prize is reflected less frequently in the surveys. This is partly due to the fact that dance critics are on tour less frequently in times of tighter budgets, gathering their impressions closer to home or taking them from festival programs. At the same time, our survey is designed with an international scope—because dance fortunately transcends national borders and is, in principle, a global player. We ask colleagues around the world about the events they found remarkable—even though political upheavals—such as the war in Ukraine and the accompanying loss of contacts—hit us hard.
