On violence, denial, and the possibility of shared dignity in the Middle East
In the Middle East, the last vestiges of a somewhat normal social flow have collapsed. The disruptive moment that swept across the region with the murderous Hamas attacks of 7 October 2023, was followed by a dynamic of destruction. An end to the war is as elusive as a solution to the conflicts that underlie it. Outside the region, the polarized situation is reflected in heated debates, and the willingness to engage in dialogue is approaching zero.
