Had she stayed in Abidjan, perhaps Nadia Beugré would have become a "Mama Benz". One of those superwomen who become wealthy trading in waxed textiles, jewelry, or other things and drive around town in a Mercedes. What it takes: willpower, assertiveness, determination. This is precisely what captivates Nadia Beugré, who has never been willing to submit to an aesthetic dictate, neither in her daily life nor as a choreographer. She wouldn't even accept that from herself. When she develops a piece, she lets herself be guided entirely by her inner voice, not by external influences or expectations. She is resistant to intimidation and has thus become a unique figure in the dance scene.
