Responding to America’s bombing of Iran, the Russian ambassador to the UN accused Donald Trump of “opening Pandora’s Box of catastrophes,“ a timely realisation of Krzysztof Pastor’s allegory of the enduring relevance of Greek Mythology to the modern world in his new work, Prometheus, interweaving the story of the courageous Titan with that of Pandora. Zeus punished Prometheus for stealing fire from the Gods and giving it to humanity, by having his liver eaten endlessly by an eagle. He also presented Pandora as a gift to Prometheus’ brother, Epimetheus, entrusting her with a box, never to be opened.
