Like clockwork, the members of the Dance On Ensemble move across the stage of Berlin's Radial System in three Silent Works. Only the clatter and scraping of sneakers across the geometric light surfaces on the stage floor can be heard. The over-40 dancers run, jump, and spin, performing the same movement phrases over and over again, yet their sequence never repeats. Breath-taking precision and the exploration of formal principles are characteristic of the early works of postmodern dance pioneer Lucinda Childs, which include Untitled Trio, Radial Courses, and Interior Drama from the 1970s.
