For Rachelle Anaïs Scott, dancing and choreographing went hand in hand almost from the very beginning. The up-and-coming choreographer has already achieved a great deal at the age of 36, yet for a long time, it was unclear whether she wanted to turn her passion for dance into a career. While attending a performing arts high school in her hometown of New York, she could easily have imagined studying physiotherapy or biology instead. Fortunately, however, the mentors guiding her training encouraged her to study dance at the renowned Juilliard School. "I loved dancing," Scott recounts, "but at that time, I wouldn't have even dreamed of working for a company like Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet."
