Lia Rodrigues Borda

Lia Rodrigues based her new creation, Borda, on the countless costumes, fabrics and plastic sheets left over from previous works. With nine dancers, she set to work according to her familiar formula: madness that goes crescendo on rousing music. However, Borda lacks the clear focus of Rodrigues' earlier work.

On a sparsely lit stage lies a large dull white cloud of pieces of fabric and plastic. It slowly changes shape, much like a real cloud. Here and there, a strand of fabric or plastic with a vague human shape rises up. In the middle, the back of a large dummy appears, relieving itself of a long string of white threads. After a long, long time, faces suddenly emerge from this mass in unexpected places. They grimace wildly, full of anger, wonder or disgust. They appear and disappear until ...
