Monica Gillette, Gwen Hsin-Yi Chang, what is the concept behind the Tanztriennale?
Monica Gillette
: We are thinking about how we can bring together as many people as possible—different segments of the dance field as well as the general public. Furthermore, it is about fostering awareness of and enthusiasm for dance, as well as promoting diversity.
Gwen Hsin-Yi Chang: It is important to us to make dance visible in a variety of ways. Dance is not presented solely on stages and in theaters; we are also committed to taking dance out into the public sphere—to fostering dialogue, reflection, and connections.
Gillette: A term we frequently use is "service." What we offer is high-quality work—for the dance field itself, and for the audience.
