As a young boy, Robert North was a patriot — he loved baseball, American flags, and hot dogs. That soon changed. His father, a sculptor, traveled the world with his family after World War II to study works of art in France, Spain, Mexico, Cuba, and elsewhere. A period that would shape the life and work of the later internationally renowned dancer (in New York and London) and future choreographer. Robert North became a cosmopolitan. Since 2007, he has been the ballet director and chief choreographer of the Vereinigte Bühnen Krefeld/Mönchengladbach. At the end of the season, he will retire from his management position, coinciding with his 80th birthday.
