The Cologne-based choreographer Elsa Artmann explores the theme of work
In Cologne and North Rhine-Westphalia, Elsa Artmann/Sanfte Arbeit has long been established—now she has won over the hearts of the audience at the Tanzplattform in Dresden. Why now? In conversation, she surprisingly brings up lap dancing: Perhaps it helps, she says, that the current piece is "a bit about hotness." And indeed: For Artmann, "hot" is not just her aesthetic style, but her artistic practice itself, a practice that doesn't stop at the stage action, but considers everything that frames it: working conditions, relationships, language, and the audience.
