Jiří Bubeníček Rachmaninov – Zwischen den Welten

He holds the suitcase at the beginning and at the end, however under completely different circumstances: What begins as an adventurous return home culminates years later in an escape as a result of the Red Terror that tore Russia apart after the revolution. So, composer Sergei Rachmaninoff too packs his belongings to leave his homeland with his wife and daughters. He will never see them again. With sensitivity and imagination, choreographer Jiří Bubeníček underscores the difficulties of this separation in the finale of the first act of his two-part opera Rachmaninov – Zwischen den Welten, premiered at the Staatstheater Gera.
