Emma Portner is just 31 years old, has already garnered international acclaim, and made her first mark on the German theater system shortly before Christmas 2025. Observers report that the young Canadian arrived at rehearsals super professionally prepared, knowing exactly what she wanted from the Bavarian State Ballet—without being overbearing with the dancers. At the premiere, Ms. Portner sat relaxed in the proscenium box and applauded the works of the two colleagues who flanked her own creation, Megahertz, within the framework of the three-part Waves & Circles: William Forsythe's Blake Works I and Maurice Béjart's Boléro. Danced by none other than Osiel Gouneo, this icon of the 20th century shines brighter than any comet—simply captivating.
