Chaotic dwarves, cute forest creatures, and a fascinatingly wicked stepmother: Yaroslav Ivanenko presents a child-friendly Schneewittchen in Kiel
The dwarves are there from the very beginning. Even before the curtain rises at the Kiel Opera House, they populate the stage, peering through the velvet, coughing in each other's ears, slipping, stumbling, and sliding. In short: the dwarves are up to mischief in their dance. And in doing so, they set the tone for Yaroslav Ivanenko's interpretation of the Grimm fairy tale Schneewittchen: it's about mischief, it's about dance as an expression of fun. It's about Snow White as a piece for children and as a piece with children: the production was created in collaboration with the Ballet Academy at Theater Kiel, and its youngest members are also on stage, primarily in children's roles and as forest creatures that scamper charmingly through the scenery.
