The FireWorks Project: Gauthier Dance celebrates its home, the Stuttgarter Theaterhaus, with a host of world premieres
Most German dance directors are happy if they can commission two or three world premieres per season—Eric Gauthier manages to cram ten into a single evening, and some of the biggest names in choreography are involved. For the 40th anniversary of the Stuttgarter Theaterhaus, whose dance department was founded by Ismael Ivo and where (this city can never get enough dance) Gauthier's two companies have become major box office hits, the Canadian ignited one of his concept evenings, The FireWorks Project, in April 2025. It is now being revived. The unifying theme in this case is music by artists who have performed at the Theaterhaus since its founding. The choreographers chose works ranging from Philip Glass to Mercedes Sosa, from Laurie Anderson to legendary jazz greats.
