Previously a choreographer and dancer, Jennifer Bury (photo) is a professional Movement Therapist and Dance Medicine Specialist at the Saint Francis Hospital in San Francisco. She earned her B.F.A. in dance at New York University with further studies in clinical anatomy at NYU’s School of Medicine.
Jennifer’s work is also defined by her studies of physiotherapy, Feldenkrais and Alexander techniques, Shiatsu and Myofascial massage, Cranio Sacral therapy, various forms of yoga and breath work, along with Bartenieff and Laban Fundamentals, Bioenergetics, Ideokinesis, Body Mind Centering, Gyrokinesis, and Aikido. Jennifer Bury has been involved with the Pilates techniques since she was a child, when she learned the technique from her mother, who studied with Joe and Clara Pilates.
What do you teach? I teach how to expand and maintain the functional and expressive possibilities, both physically and emotionally, through addressing the body and sensation.
