Kreutzerkompani: «Elevator 2»
This is a new version of 2003’s Elevator. Kreutzerkompani’s staple elements of movement, live video and audio are used, and the basic set-up is the same. Kreutzerkompani have a firm command of the use of video and audio technologies for creating their unique aesthetic, which levels out the relationship between Eva-Cecilie Richardsen’s choreography, HC Gilje’s images and the soundscape by Kelly Davis. Each has its own organic development, but also converge on, punctuate and push at each other.
Despite this inherent levelling out, the live video manipulations of the three female dancers seem to control the way the piece evolves, selectively capturing, enhancing and altering the dancers’ movements and bodies. The dancers stretch, jump and hesitate, influencing abstract patterns on the screens, or providing the video’s viewpoint. They have a wide-eyed, yet cool, observant quality that echoes the digital aesthetic running through the piece. Performing in an art gallery setting in Bergen amplifies the minimalist visual quality of Kreutzerkompani’s work.
